FREE TOURNAMENTS EVERY MONDAY FROM 7PM-10PM!
Win points to use towards poker merchandise and more! Play poker with no risk and meet new people! Get out of the bar environment with the crazy drunks.
We have a fully-stocked Pepsi cooler with everything from Mountain Dew to Gatorade to Frappuccino from Starbucks! We also have a candy rack full of sweets and snacks! We use only 100% plastic playing cards, custom poker chips, and high quality poker tables.
The following are the house rules for the free poker tournaments at Poker Nation at 1859 W. Greenway Rd. Suite 127.
For any rules not listed here, Robert's Rules of Poker will apply.
Registration is cut off at 6:55 PM. If you plan on being later than that, please call and get your name on the list. If you are not here by 7:15 PM, your remaining chips will be removed from the table and you will not be allowed to play.
Respect the store. When you leave, make sure all of your garbage is in the trash cans, both inside and outside. The ground outside is NOT for cigarette butts. Please observe Arizona law and smoke at least 20 feet away from the entrance to my store and my neighbors. This is a place of business, not your buddy's garage!
VISIBILITY: Players have to keep their cards and chips in view at all times. Do not remove your chips from the table unless you are changing seats.
STRING BET: No string bets allowed. When raising, a player must either put the amount of the raise out in one motion or state the raise amount. If the raise is unannounced then the raise must be made in one motion. If the raise is announced but no amount is announced - I raise - then the amount of the raise must be in one motion. If both the raise and the amount are announced - I raise 600 - then the player can make several motions to put chips into the pot since there is no question about the details.
CHEATING: Anyone caught cheating (willful participation in giving yourself or another player an unfair advantage over other players) will be kicked out of the game for life.
ENGLISH ONLY: Only English may be spoken at the table.
VERBAL DECLARATIONS: If a player verbally announces a move in-turn, then he will be required to play according to his verbal declarations - even if he has not moved his chips.
SHOWING HANDS - WHEN ALL-IN: When a player is all-in, he has to show his cards by the end of the hand.
SHOWING HANDS - WHO SHOWS: At the showdown: If everyone checks, then everyone must show their hand. When betting takes place after the River card, players have the option to muck if they are beat unless one of the dealt-in players or Tournament Director requests to see them.
RABBIT HUNTING: Rabbit hunting is highly discouraged but allowed at the discretion of the player in the dealer's position.
MISDEALS: (based on Robert's Rules of Poker)
The following circumstances cause a misdeal (collect cards, reshuffle and recut), provided attention is called to the error before two players have acted in their hands. (Otherwise, hand must be played to conclusion)
- One card ranked Jack or higher has been exposed or two cards of any rank.
- The wrong player was dealt to first. If this is discovered early enough and no players have looked at cards and it's obvious where the cards should have gone, the correction can be made and deal continued.
- A player was dealt a hand that they were not entitled to (such as an eliminated player) or a player who is entitled to a hand does not receive one.
- Once 2 players act on their cards, a misdeal may no longer be declared and any player whose hand was fouled is not entitled to a refund.
DEAD BUTTON - PLAYER BUSTS OUT: No player may be skipped in the rotation of big blinds. If the position for small blind has been vacated, there will be no small blind for that hand.
MINIMUM RAISE: The minimum amount of a raise must be the amount of the previous raise, not the amount of the previous bet. The minimum bet AND raise is the amount of the big blind, meaning the if the blinds are 25/50, the minimum raise must be 50, for a total of 100. Another example is if the current bet is 100 and a player raises 200 for a total of 300. The next player's minimum raise is an addition 200 for a total of 500.
SIDE POTS: Table stakes only. A player can only win from each player as many chips as he bets. This is called a main pot. A side pot is created with any subsequent bets.
SEATING: Each table will seat a maximum of 10 players. Players will be distributed evenly between all the tables. When a position is vacated and a player needs to be moved from a larger table, the Tournament Director will move a player.
DRAWING SEATS: The tournament software will randomly assign seats. If the Tournament Director is playing, he/she will be allowed to choose a seat that allows the functions of that job to be easily performed so long as that seat is chosen before the other players' seats are selected.
DRAWING FOR THE BUTTON: Opening dealer will be the player randomly selected for Seat #1. At "Final Table", the dealer will be randomly selected by the tournament software unless the Tournament Director has been eliminated from the tournament.
TOURNAMENTS TIES: If two players (or more) are in-the-money in a tournament and they go all-in and both get knocked out then the player with the most chips will place higher than the player with less chips. If they both have an equal number of chips and both get knocked out then they will finish in a tie.
COLOR UP: The lowest denomination of chip in play will be removed from the table when it is no longer needed in the blind or ante structure or shortly thereafter. When coloring up, chip values will be rounded up to the smallest available denomination of chips.
BLINDS: Blind schedule will be available for players to view and current/next blinds will be visible on the Tournament Director software display. The blind clock may be paused at the Tournament Director's discretion when needed for coloring up or resolving disputes.
AUTHORITY: In the event of a judgment call, final authority will revert to the Tournament Director.
UNCOVERED RULES: If a rule is not made specific here, Robert's Rules of Poker will be used, but can be overridden by any Tournament Director. Decisions will always be made in the interest of fairness.
ETIQUETTE:
If you smoke, please dispose of your butts properly. Extinguish them and bring them inside to the trash can.
Illegal drugs are not allowed on the premises.
Please do not talk on your cell phone at the table. If you need to take a call, you must step away from the table and be blinded out.
Do not act out of turn.
Please pay attention to the hand if you are in it.
Do not turn over another player's mucked cards without his permission.
Please do not participate in Table Talk if you have been eliminated from the tournament.
